The functions of the Cooling Deflector Wings are:
1. Reduce the air coming over the top of the tank, & around the sides of the tank.
2. This results in a reduction of air hitting the rider and passenger chest, which reduces buffeting/helmet & glasses bobble.
3. Redirect that air to flow over the engine for better cooling.
We have consistently seen engine temperatures reduced by 8-15 degrees with the CDW's.
These mount up easily to the frame/downtube with rubber clamps. They are adjustable to get the best redirection of air for you.
Most baffles and deflectors that reduce rider and passenger buffeting also reduce air flow over the engine, making it run hotter. Milwaukee-Eight Models already run too hot during the warm weather months.
With some thought, some curves and bends, & many miles of testing various prototypes, we developed the CDW's that -

Helps buffering so much 0 people found this helpfulI've been looking for something to all but eliminate buffeting. I'm 5'7" on a 25 street bob and have a Advanblack fairing. The wind coming up under was still annoying as shit. I finally stumbled on these and, although a little steep for what you get, they were worth a shit. Installed in 5 min and could cautiously adjust them on the fly while on the freeway (thanks, cruise control). Eliminated helmet shaking completely from that upwards draft up to 70mph, and lowered it tremendously up to 100mph.

CDW 2 people found this helpfulLooks and feels very nice, seems to be of good quality. I purchased them in hopes would help with the buffeting I was getting on my 2023 Heritage. I did not see any deference in buffeting.

Don't give up hope yet!
Buffeting varies greatly from person to person because of all of these variables. Because of posture, the way you sit, your riding helmet, how tall you are & many more variables, all have effects on how these help with buffeting.
As noted in the instructions.... experiment with different heights and different angles to achieve the best possible results.
3. Adjusting the Cooling Deflector Wings to Your Ideal Position.
There are several factors to consider.
A. Do you want maximum cooling? If so, angle the CDW’s to direct the most amount of air
to the top of the engine.
B. Do you want to reduce buffeting? If so, angle the CDW’s to block as much air as
possible from going over the top of the tank.
C. Do you want to reduce or increase the amount of wind hitting your legs? If so, angle the
CDW’s to reduce or increase the amount of wind directed toward your legs.

not so great 2 people found this helpfulWell made, easy install. Hope it helps cool, because it doesn't seem to reduce buffeting one bit. If anything, it increases left side buffeting. I noticed riding that if I held my right hand, palm open on my knee, buffeting and wind noise was gone, bought these hoping they would redirect the air moving around tank. That didn't happen, and there is actually more noise on the left side now.

So far so good 1 people found this helpful2022bFLHCS / 131 Stage IV SE upgrade. I purchased these deflector wings to reduce wind buffeting at high speeds on the Autobahn. I am unable to use traditional style fork deflectors (fangs) as these reduce wind flow and therefore cooling to the engine. After the 131 upgrade I didn't want to chance overheating the engine. Unfortunately the weather here in northern Germany has so far been "Scheiße" and I have not been able to thoroughly test them at high speed. I would prefer a metal mounting clamp instead of the rubber provided as I fear the rubber may not hold up in the long term.
